Follow My New Blog

Happy New Year! I’ve been gone for a while so I’m letting you know what I’ve been up to. I’ve set up a new blog on the Blogger platform (yep, I’m done with WordPress) that features the oracle decks I’ve been creating. If you’ve been following this blog, you’ve seen them in some of my posts. Well, I went back to the drawing board and I’ve been revising some of them and creating new ones. I’ll still be posting about cartomancy but I’ll be using my decks as inspiration, so that means I’ll be posting about playing card cartomancy, Lenormand cartomancy, archetypes, and more. Follow me at Over the Moon Oracle Cards.

I’ve received questions about making the decks for sale and I’m hoping to offer them for sale through Printerstudio.com. I’m setting up my online shop now and hopefully they will be available for sale within the next few weeks. I’ll send out another blog post when they are ready. Here’s what I plan to offer:

Over the Moon Oracle Cards – a hybrid playing card/oracle card deck. Playing cards on one side…images on the other. Read more about it in the post, This Ain’t Your Usual Oracle Deck.

The Simple Lenormand – a simple line art Lennie-esque deck with 40 cards. Read more about it in the post, The Simple Lenormand has arrived!

The Cinderella Deck – you’ve seen it here on this blog and some of you received a Cinderella Reading. New blog posts coming soon.

I’m also offering interpretation help for your 3-card readings using my decks or regular playing cards. Find out how to submit your readings HERE. See an example of interpretation help in the post, Will I Find Love This Year?

This blog will stay up so you can refer back to it (I know I do). I’ll also be expanding on some of the posts I wrote here on the new blog. For example, I just wrote an expanded article on using the numerical theme. I’ll also be sharing more spreads — I know you can’t get enough of them! Check out this one, Started From The Bottom, and some interpretation help with a reading using the spread. Hope to see you soon at Over the Moon Oracle Cards!

Divination Works!

This goes to show you can do readings with anything, not just tarot or playing cards. Last Saturday morning, I journaled the question, What can I expect today? I am getting too lazy to find my decks and shuffle cards so I just scroll through the photo albums on my iPad, close my eyes and pick one. I chose from a bunch of images that are sooo cute, from PhotoRack.net.

Here’s the one I chose:

I wrote: Hmmm…looks like Christmas…a family gathering?

It seemed unlikely because my family rarely gathers and there wasn’t a wedding or funeral to attend. BUT, out of the blue, my Mom asked if I wanted to go to my aunt’s house. Her niece  whom she’s never met, was stopping by for a visit. So, I went and the niece brings her daughter along and lots of stories are shared and we have a little unexpected family reunion. Divination works!

My Who Am I Reading

I decided to take my Soul Awakening Archetypes Cards out for another spin using DIY READING: Who Am I? Here’s what I got:

whoamisoulawakening

Three are considered royalty: PRINCE, KING and ARISTOCRAT (elite and privileged class).  The royalty angle has come up in past life readings so I wonder if this reading is bringing up something to explore about that.

This is the face I show to the world — PRINCE

This is the real me — ADVOCATE

This is the part of me I keep hidden — KING

This is who I’d like to become — ARISTOCRAT

I noticed after sitting with these cards for a few moments that they are showing me prosperity and career issues, which are always a source of inner conflict.

The PRINCE is someone whose needs are taken care of. He’s not yet old enough to rule so he is indulged and pampered. He doesn’t have to work at all. When I hear my life from other people’s lips, I realize I must give the impression that life is super easy and that people just give me things (I wish!). Perhaps it’s because I always appear calm. I also suspect they are picking up on some past-life residue.

The ADVOCATE must work for a living, to pay the bills. He prefers to work in a capacity where he is a public servant, helping others or advocating on their behalf. Despite the impression I give to others, I have to work for a living. My preference is to have a career that helps others in some way (one reason why I’m a reflexologist and instructor).

The KING inherits his position of power and wealth. This shows I’m not claiming my rightful power or wealth in this lifetime. This also relates to suppressing leadership abilities too. I often run away from leadership positions that seem like too much responsibility.

The ARISTOCRAT is independently wealthy and does not have to answer to the royal court. This is who I’d like to become — I’d like to work because I want to, not because I have to; I want to take care of myself and not have to rely on someone else. I’d also like more leisure time and (to be honest) perhaps a servant or two. At least an assistant!

Introducing Soul Awakening Archetype Cards

At last…my sample Soul Awakening Archetype Cards from printerstudio.com. I was so eager to do a first reading with these, and since I really enjoy the way Lisa Frideborg Lloyd of www.tarotize.com interviews her tarot decks, I thought I’d interview this one. I asked the deck just one question: What role will you play?

FLIRT really stumped me until I thought about just how enticing this deck is (to me at least!). I have been soooooo excited to get this in the mail and I think it’s one of my best decks yet, mostly because I stepped out of my box for this one. I actually dreamed of this deck before I conceived it. As I awoke from the dream I thought “I would never make a deck like that….” Two weeks later, I had the urge to make this deck, not realizing it was the one from the dream until I was midway through it. So, this deck enticed me to pull it out of my depths. Perhaps it will also entice others to respond to their inner urges and pull unconventional dreams from their depths as well. In this card, the FLIRT is flirting with 2 men, suggesting a multi-tasking ability; this deck may serve more than one function or have 2 different faces — lighthearted (FLIRT) and serious (SAGE).

I don’t really have any other cards related to talking or networking so GOSSIP will have to wear many hats in this deck. We’re all familiar with the shadow side of the GOSSIP, but this archetype simply shares or spreads information to many people. The GOSSIP is “the social glue that spreads an idea” (The Networker archetype via archetypist.com) and the key to connecting you to the right people and resources. In light of the question, perhaps this deck will be instrumental at connecting questioners to the right people (archetypes) and (inner) resources. The GOSSIP may also share secret or hidden information, in this context, secrets hidden in your subconscious mind. I also get the impression from these first two cards that this deck may be the most popular one I’ve created.

With SAGE, the energy totally changes, suggesting this deck should be taken seriously. This archetype doles out some really deep wisdom and profound advice so these cards will play the role of advisor as well. The SAGE “uses personal knowledge of people and the world to help tell stories and offer guidance that may impress upon his audience a sense of who they are and who they might become.” (Wise old man archetype via wikipedia.com)

My Archetypes of the Soul Reading

Here’s the reading I did with my Archetypes of the Soul cards, made on Printerstudio.com. The cards are very simple — just words on a landscape background.

My first impression was, “So this is why I have trouble making money!”

The big clue is TYCOON in the shadow aspect. The shadow represents things you don’t want to associate with, what you dislike or find repelling. These can be positive traits as well as negative ones: “No, I’m not the creative one in the family; that’s my sister.” The TYCOON is the Donald Trump archetype in terms of money — he’s a big money maker, risk taker, investor, etc. This energy exists in me but I’m repressing it. Second, the PHILOSOPHER is not known for making huge piles of cash. Their contribution is their wisdom which is an intangible so they often don’t get compensated for the knowledge they share.

The TEACHER is how I can bridge these 2 energies….what synchronicity….I AM a teacher! I have always had trouble asking people for money as a service professional but for some reason don’t have that problem when it comes to teaching. And teaching allows me to get compensated for an intangible service (knowledge).

This reading reflects exactly who I am and provides some new insights. Even though the information isn’t new to me, seeing the cards appear in their positions really brought home some of the issues I’ve been struggling with and now I know I’m on the right track to balance these conflicts.

Stay tuned…I have another archetype deck on it’s way.

SAMPLE READING: 2013 New Year’s Resolution

nyearsSomeone asked me yesterday if I had any New Year’s resolutions. I don’t usually make these but I will choose a few cards to see what I should focus on for the year. Using a prompt from The Fortune-Teller’s Journal and my advice meanings, here are my New Year’s resolutions:

In 2013, I resolve to….

10 of Spades = see the light at the end of the tunnel

10 of Diamonds = feel wealthy even if I’m not

9 of Diamonds = be all that I can be

King of Hearts = offer counsel to someone in need

10 of Clubs = delegate when I’m overwhelmed

Look at all the 10s! Double 10s reveal a major decision will be made next year. Three of a kind shows I’m learning a lesson about the number energy which in this case relates to starting over on a new level of experience.  The missing card suit reveals what is needed to help learn this lesson. The 10 that’s missing is 10 of Hearts (spend more time with family). It shows that compassion and connection are necessary to integrate the lesson.

Interestingly, each card relates to an issue I’ve mentioned in one of my posts over the last several months:

See the light at the end of the tunnel. I keep picking the tunnel in the Pathways to the Soul cards and then I drew a tunnel in my doodle journal. See DIVINE INTERVENTION: Doodle Divination.

Feel wealthy even if I’m not. This resolution brings up a reading I did back in November about my financial aid check. You can check it out here: SAMPLE READING: What will my week bring?

Be all that I can be. I think My Career Path Reading ties in nicely with this resolution. The reading showed the possibility of reaching a wider audience with my skills and talents.

Offer counsel to someone in need. I’ve been thinking about a coaching model I use on a very casual basis with friends and colleagues and whether I want to launch this approach as a service. You can see this “counseling” method in Transforming Energy Blocks With Tarot Coaching.

Delegate when I’m overwhelmed. Being overwhelmed and needing help came up in My One Card Celtic Cross Reading.

I guess it makes sense that all of my resolutions for NEXT year summarize all of the issues I’ve been working on THIS year.

The Fortune-Teller’s Journal is a playing card divination journal. It is one of many bonus tools found in Your Future Is In The Cards, my online cartomancy course.
